Sometimes my icons are aligned horizontally - other times vertically - why?

As you can see from the screenshot to the right - and circled in red, there are times when the icons are aligned horizontally and at other times vertically. This is by design and the goal is to make most efficient use of the limited screen space. So, if the text height is greater than that of a single icon, they are stacked vertically, otherwise it’s horizontal.
