iThoughts hooks into the standard ‘Settings App’ (where you configure your voicemail profiles and general settings etc.) This is where some of the more esoteric ‘tweaks’ can be made.

TextExpander

If enabled, TextExpander abbreviations will be substituted in the topic and note edit fields - see here for more details.

Web Server | fixed Port

This forces the map transfer server to use a fixed port when listening for incoming connections - as opposed to a ‘random’ port that changes each time.

Dropbox | Enabled

Turns the Dropbox integration on and off.

Dropbox | Clear Credentials

Turn on to force user/password re-entry (e.g. if password changed)

box.net | Enabled

Turns the box.net integration on and off.

box.net | Clear Credentials

Turn on to force user/password re-entry (e.g. if password changed)

box.net | Domain

Override the default box.net domain (required for certain countries)

Web Service Upload

Enables the option to POST maps to a user supplied webservice.

General UI | Taper links

Turn on and off the tapered link effect for immediate descendants of the root topic.

General UI | Crosshair

If ‘ON’ then the crosshair is enabled.

General UI | Auto Scroll

If ‘ON’ then the screen will auto scroll if a topic is dragged ‘off screen’ (i.e. lose to the edge)

General UI | Recover Help

If ‘ON’ then Help map is overwritten with the original copy.

General UI | Load Last Map

If ‘ON’ then the last loaded map will be reloaded upon launch. If there is a problem loading a map, set this to OFF to stop the problem map being loaded each time the app starts.

Shake Effort Required

This is the level of effort required to trigger a shake (which in turn results in iThoughts centering on the currently selected topic. Moving the slider leftmost means least effort (i.e. small movement constitutes a shake.) and rightmost effectively disables the shake detection.

Vibration | When realigning

If ‘ON’ then the iPhone will vibrate when p-press-n-hold is invoked (to realign a topic/map.)

Vibration | When dragging

If ‘ON’ then the iPhone will vibrate when a topic being dragged forms a temporary link to a neighboring topic.

OPML | Task info in note

If ‘ON’ then the task information (start and due date etc.) will be encoded in the note field.

Novamind | AutoLayout

If ‘ON’ this instructs Novamind to layout the imported map as it feels appropriate. Unfortunately, when choosing how to layout the map, it disregards the left/right’ness of the topics relative to the root topic.
